Chapter Philanthropy

Alpha Xi Delta's national philanthropy is Autism Speaks! To support Autism Speaks' mission, our chapter hosts events throughout the year to increase understanding and acceptance of autism spectrum disorders and raise funds for those affected.

Autism Speaks Walk

Each fall our Sisters attend the Autism Speaks Walk which takes place in Charlotte or Columbia. We love this experience because it is so much fun cheering on the walkers! For the past three years, we have been the top fundraising team and been able to start the Walk with a silent countdown!

Volunteering at the Autism Academy of South Carolina

One evening a month, Columbia's local autism academy holds a Family & Friends Night, and we go to spend time with those on the spectrum while their parents attend workshops! This is one of our favorite volunteering experiences because we get to interact first hand with those we serve. The connections we make during this volunteering remind us of the importance of Autism Speaks' mission.

Light It Up Blue Gala

We are excited to be hosting our second annual Light It Up Blue Gala this upcoming fall semester! This event includes dinner, a silent auction, live band and much more. In 2019, we were thrilled to raise over $20,000 for Autism Speaks! Stay tuned for more details on this fun event.

Light It Up Blue 5K

Our Light It Up Blue 5K is a fun run/walk event that attracts members of the Greek community, student organizations, family, friends, faculty, local businesses, organizations and Autism Speaks community. In just two years, our 5Ks raised over $21,000!
